Headache and Migraine Glossary: Metabolic Acidosis

Definition: A disturbance in the body's acid-base balance that causes excessive acidity of the blood.
Examples: Metabolic acidosis can be a result of many different conditions including as kidney failure and diabetic ketoacidosis or as a side effect of medications.
