Alphabetical listing of book reviews

  • 10 Simple Solutions to Migraines
If good things come in small packages, "10 Simple Solutions to Migraines" partially fits the bill. The book is 5" by 7½" and contains 143 pages. It's purpose is to offer some good strageties for dealing with Migraines, offered in a straight forward, no nonsense style. It's a good attempt, but falls a bit short.

  • Clinical Pharmacology made Incredible Easy!
This book has come to my rescue to learn more about how and why drugs work! Packed with information that makes it a superlative reference book.

  • Cluster Headaches
Excerpts from the experiences of 217 "ClusterHeads." Goldstein has chosen well, and arranged the excerpts into a superb range of topics.

  • A Guided Tour of Hell
Migraine, in the Words of Its Sufferers. This is a book Migraineurs have been waiting for. This is a book we want our families, doctors, friends -- everyone with whom we come in contact -- to read.

  • Handbook of Headache, Second Edition, Evans and Mathew
A book that's also quite appropriate for patients on a quest for education. A good medical dictionary will be helpful, but don't let that stop you.

  • Handbook of Headache Management
A Practical Guide to Diagnosis and Treatment of Head, Neck, and Facial Pain. A comprehensive book that would be a superlative addition to anyone's library.

  • Headache in Primary Care
Written for primary care physicians, but superb for informed patients as well.

  • Headache Help
Robbins and Lang seek to inform, encourage, and assist those who must deal with headaches of all kinds.

  • The Headache Prevention Cookbook
Dr. David Marks has written this book with a superb program for identifying those triggers and preventing headaches, accompanied by great recipes and lots of info.

  • Headache Through the Ages
Diamond and Franklin explore how "headache" has been perceived through time in literature, art history, and anecdotal material, noting the famous headache suffers and how they depicted their pain.

  • Heal Your Headache the 1-2-3 Program...
This is a thought-provoking book. Dr. Buchholz makes some excellent points, but readers should remember that he's writing about his hypotheses.

  • Living Well with Autoimmune Disease
More patients are educating themselves, becoming active participants in their own health care. With books such as "Living Well with Autoimmune Disease" and committed authors like Mary J. Shomon, this patient strategy is becoming easier.

  • Living Well with Graves' Disease and Hyperthyroidism
Living Well with Graves' Disease and Hyperthyroidism, What Your Doctor Doesn't Tell You... That You Need To Know by patient advocate Mary Shomon is a must-read if you have either condition or their symptoms or if you care about someone who does.

A great supplement to our headache and Migraine diaries.

  • Migraines and Other Headaches, Young and Silberstein
The first of a quality-of-life series from the American Academy of Neurology, this book is a great educational resource.

  • The Mindbody Prescription
Guest author Deborah Wirtel reviews this book by Dr. John Sarno. Does Sarno make sense or is he moving back in the direction of telling us once again that it's "all in our heads?"

  • Understanding Migraine and Other Headaches (Tepper)
Quite worthy addition to anyone's library. Written "for general readers," the book is, "a comprehensive overview of causes, diagnoses, and treatments" written in a logical, easy flowing style. You'll find it complete, up-to-date, and easy to understand.

  • The Women's Migraine Survival Guide
The Right Doctor, Migraine and Pregnancy, Management at Work and Home, and more. A superb book written by a doctor who really "gets it."

  • You Can Heal Your Life
If you want to add a pretty book cover to your library, go for it, but take the content not with a grain of salt, but with an entire salt block.
