Question: Is it possible for hurricanes to worsen Migraines?

Answer:

Full Question:

Dear Dr. Is it possible for hurricanes to worsen a migraine headache sufferer? My mother who lives in Miami seems to have worsening migraines when a hurricane is coming upon the Florida coast. Thank You so kindly for your response. Debby

Answer:

Dear Debby;

Absolutely! Changes in barometric pressure can be a terrible Migraine trigger. In fact, that's one of the most common of triggers. Unfortunately, it's also a trigger that's darned hard to avoid.

Good luck,
Teri Robert and John Claude Krusz
