Question: Migraines from bright light? Vitamins to improve the problem?

Answer:

Full Question:
For two years I have been having headaches which appear to be primarily the result of bright lighting conditions, particularly driving in bright sunlight. I have discovered that wearing two pair of sunglasses just about keeps the headache away. Two questions; (1) Can this be migraine? (2) I am told that there are vitamins that will tend to improve this condition. Do you have any info on this? Bart.

Answer:
Dear Bart;

Light can be a strong trigger for migraines, especially the kind that causes glare. I know of no specific vitamin that would reduce this tendency, but I have several patients who benefited from Coenzyme Q10, 150-300mg per day, over 2-3 months. Let me know if this is of benefit.

Good luck,
John Claude Krusz
