Question: Frova for prevention of menstrual Migraine?
Answer:
Full Question:
I have suffered with migraines for 39 years now
(I am 49 years old). I currently use either Relpax or frovatriptan for relief.
My doctor recently suggested I take Frova for 2-3 days before my period. He said
they have found that it can be used as a preventative. I am also on Pamelor;
it's supposed to be a preventative too. My worst migraines are about 2-3 days
before my cycle and can last for days. Have you heard of using Frova for
prevention? I am trying it this month, and hope to have success. I actually have
great hope! I go to a headache and migraine clinic in Michigan and really feel
that they genuinely care about us Migraineurs! Thanks for your comments.
Answer:
Dear Menstrual Migraineur;
Frova has actually been studied for menstrual Migraine and found to be effective as your doctor suggested. Here's an article on that subject:
Frova Shown Effective for Preventing Menstrual Migraine
Endo Pharmaceuticals has released data from the second Phase III study
of Frova® prevention of menstrual Migraine. This study corroborates the
findings of a prior study published in 2004. With two successful Phase III
trials, Endo expects to file with the FDA to seek of Frova® for the
prevention of menstrual Migraine.
It's great that you've found a place to receive such good care.
Good luck,
Teri Robert and John Claude Krusz
