Question: Nonstop headaches. Stenosis, arthritis, bulging discs in neck?
Answer:
Full Question:
I am a 37 year old female, who has had a
headache going on 5 weeks now. It never goes away, however the intensity varies
anywhere from a 3-9. I am not abnormally sensitive to light or sound however,
when I am active (i.e. walking at a brisk pace), it does intensify. It is
usually in my temples, but floats around to the top and back of my head on
either side. I have been to the doctors 3 times and have been prescribed
chlorobenzene, Toradol, Naprosyn, Percocet, Imitrex and ibuprofen 800 but none
of these medications provide relief. I have had a CT scan with no significant
findings. One doctor said it was a tension headache, another said I was "stuck
in a migraine". I do not normally get headaches, let alone migraines, even when
I am stressed or drinking alcohol, which I do on occasion, however I have not
had a drink in over 3 weeks. I have a history of stenosis, arthritis and
multilevel bulging disks in my neck, so I went to the chiropractor for a few
adjustments to no avail. I have not been exposed to any chemicals that could be
causing this. I am thinking I might want to be tested for spinal meningitis. Do
you have any other suggestions? Thanks for your time and anticipated response.

Answer:
Dear Deannie;
Your cervical structural problems may be contributing to your non-stop headaches. Meningitis workup would likely negative, based on your story. I don't know what chlorobenzene is, but it sounds pretty toxic!! I'd seek out the services of a headache expert. If you need it, there's a link below to our directory of recommended specialists.
Good luck,
