Question: Had exertional Migraines before. Then none. Coming back?
Answer:
Full Question:
I begin to get migraine
headaches suddenly while working out. I begin to have two or three a week and
was put on a combination of Depakote, Maxalt, B12 and several over the counter
medicines. I stopped taking these after two years because they stopped being
effective and at the time the migraines had almost stopped as suddenly as they
started. Recently I have been experiencing headaches that don't seem to go away.
I had a episode in which sharp pains begin shooting through the right side of my
head and down my face. It lasted for a couple minutes then subsided. I have been
having a lot of problems with my vision lately. At times it seems like there is
a film over my eyes. Could the symptoms I'm experiencing now be a sign that the
migraines are starting again? Could they be a sign of something else? Lisa.
Answer:
Dear Lisa;
The answers to your questions are yes and yes. What you describe could be Migraines, or they could be from something else entirely. One reason Migraine can be hard to diagnose is that the symptoms can be caused by other issues as well. It's time to go back to the doctor. If you've started having exertional Migraines again, doctors can often give you something to take before working out that will prevent them.
Good luck,
