Question: Doctor said daughter can't have Migraines daily?
Answer:
Full Question:
My 16 year old daughter has had occasional
migraines for about 2 years. In the last 3 months they have gotten more frequent
to the point where they are almost daily. She cries because she is missing
school and is in so much pain. We had a visit to the neurologist. He basically
said she can't be having daily migraines because they don't work that way. He
had no answer to "but she has aura and sensitivity to light" He gave her Inderal
as a preventative and samples of about 4 medications as "abortive" measures. Her
MRI was normal. Any suggestions? Should I find another neurologist who
specializes in migraines? Thanks for your help. Kathi
Answer:
Dear Kathi;
Absolutely. It's time to fire that neurologist and find a new neurologist or a Migraine specialist. People can and do have daily Migraines. It might also help you to read the answer to another of our questions from this week, HERE. If you need it, there's a link below to our directory of recommended specialists.
Good luck,
