Question: Nearly four years with severe headaches... doc doesn't know what it is?
Answer:
Full Question:
Hello I have suffered with severe headaches for
the last 3 and a half nearly 4 years and my doctor doesnt know what it is. I
have been on all of the tablets that she can give me and I have been for a brain
scan. She has also taken me off fizzy drinks, cheese and chocolate which havent
really had any affect at all. They are all different some make me sick, others
have made me physically shake and go dizzy and light headed. Would you please
let me know if you have any answers for me?
Answer:
Hello;
You said "headaches," but with the foods you've eliminated, do you mean Migraines?
Some people have food triggers, some don't, but those three foods barely scratch the surface of investigating possible food triggers, let alone other triggers. If you're not already keeping a diary, that's a good way to work on identifying triggers...
Keeping a
Headache and Migraine Diary
One of the most helpful tools for you and your doctors is a Headache and
Migraine Diary. Its useful to track triggers, the effectiveness of meds,
and patterns to your headache pain. There are many ways to do this, but for
the purpose of your doctor reviewing it, printed pages are usually
preferable to a bound journal. We have a diary ready for you to print our
download to use on your computer.
Bottom line? If after nearly four years, your doctor can't help you, it's time to move on to a new doctor. If you need it, there's a link below to our directory of recommended specialists.
Good luck,
