Question: Alternative to indomethacin for hemicrania continua?
Answer: Full Question:
My pain specialist believes I have hemicrania continua -- a daily, unilateral headache with fluids around my eye membranes. I started on a regimen of indomethacin and felt better, but, unfortunately, this medication caused my liver function to be ten times out of the range of normal. Is there any viable alternative to indomethacin? Barb
Answer:
Dear Barb;
I'm not sure where the "fluids around the eye membranes" comes from or what your doctor is trying to tell you. I don't like indomethacin for many reasons, some of which you describe. Consider talking to your physician about Celebrex.
Good luck,
