Question: Migraine pain in leg, just above the knee?
Answer:
Full Question:
I have had a history of migraine headaches for
most of my life, maybe 2 or 3 times per year, lasting 3 to 4 days. I used to
take shots for them. However, it has been about 3 years since I actually had an
episode, thankfully. But for the past couple of days, I have had the exact same
migraine pain in my "leg". Is it possible to suffer migraines in other parts of
the body besides the head. I am sharing with you that the pain is identical to
what I used to get in my head. That twinging,
shocking like lightning feeling just above my knee, which jolts me exactly like
my head migraines. I take 2 extra strength Excedrin aspirin and it subsides for
about 3 hours. Thank you much for your feedback. Don.
Answer:
Dear Don;
It's time to see your doctor. Although Migraine attacks can include symptoms such as aches in other parts of the body, what you describe sounds unusual. Only a doctor who can review your medical history and symptoms and conduct an exam is going to be able to tell you if this is related to your Migraine disease.
In the meantime, take it easy on the Excedrin and aspirin. They can cause rebound headaches:
Medication Overuse Headache: What's a person to do?
Unfortunately, it seems that any medication we take for headache or Migraine
relief has the potential to cause medication overuse headache if used more
than two or three days a week. We need to learn as much about it as
possible. Lets take a look at what causes it, how to avoid it, and other
important issues.
Good luck,
