Question: "Non-legal" remedies... online herbal alternatives?
Answer:
Full Question:
Because of the varying severity and
near-constant onslaught of migraines I've suffered for the last few years, and
to some degree out of desperation, I've sometimes resorted to "non-legal"
remedies to give myself a break and/or some downtime.
However, obviously, I don't enjoy the sneaking around required.
Has there been any information on whether herbal alternatives, such as ones
advertised on some sites like (site name deleted), have had
any similar success?
Actually, I've been the local headache clinic, been followed by a Neurologist
and my doctor on this for years.
It's just that I've tried all regular medical avenues (at least what's available
in Canada right now) with very limited success.
And I've participated in several of Dr Sewell's surveys over time as well, and
explored alternative medicines and treatments with my doctor.
Short of surviving on Tylenol #3, Fiorinal with Codeine and Demerol for the ones I can't
manage/control, I've had to deal with near continuous - yes, continuous -
migraines of one type or another for nearly 3.5 years straight. Considered a
long-term pain patient by the medical community, at this point. Patrick.
Answer:
Dear Patrick;
I don't know what to suggest other than a change in headache specialist! That may not be easy, I'm sure. I can't endorse non-legal approaches on the Internet or elsewhere; if your physicians are comfortable with prescribing your medications then you hopefully would do well. If not, the search or another approach might be upon you.
Good luck,
Teri Robert and John Claude Krusz
