Question: Does Midrin work the same way triptans do?

Answer:

Full Question:

My daughter has had a chronic headache since last January, almost a year. She has tried Maxalt and Relpax, both of which made the headache pain much worse. These are triptans. She has just been prescribed Midrin. Does it work the same way the triptans do leading to the conclusion that it will also probably make the headache much worse? Thanks, Jerry.

Answer:

Dear Jerry;

No, Midrin is not a triptan. It works far differently from the triptans. If this continues, it's time to consult a headache and Migraine specialist for her. This is far too long for a headache or Migraine to continue. She needs some expert help.

Good luck,
Teri Robert and John Claude Krusz
