Question: Significantly debilitating Migraines 2 days after masturbation?
Answer:
Full Question:
This may be slightly bizarre, but I've been
given a quest to find the cause of my significant others migraine troubles. I
have tried my best to help, and short of going to see a doctor for what may very
well be an answer of "It's all in your head." I have come up fairly dry in the
way of answers.
My significant other has significantly debilitating migraine headaches, lasting
from a few hours to a few days, with varying intensities. That, in itself, is
worrying. But here's the thing: He only gets these headaches approximately two
days after having masturbated. He says that he can't explain it, but if he stops
masturbating, he stops having these headaches, and so therefore masturbation is
unhealthy and "wrong". And that he's always had these headaches after
masturbating, and he only figured it out recently (when he decided to see if
stopping would do anything). He does NOT get these headaches after sexual
interactions with me wherein he reaches orgasm. Only solo.
My thoughts are "this problem is psychological". But... I have no basis in that,
and to tell him such is tantamount to friends of older generations saying to
women that menstrual cramps were all in their heads. I'm of the opinion that
masturbation is healthy, and it's a bodily need, just like the need for eating,
sleeping, or thirst. It's natural, and a thing that should be done if there are
no religious ideas holding one back. He is agnostic. No preconceived notions as
to sins, as his parents raised him that way. They taught him "good" and "bad",
"right" from "wrong"...but in the sense of human interactions and how not to
hurt people, but to be caring. So tell me. Have you heard of something like this
before, because I sure haven't. But... Sincerely, Concerned love.
Answer:
Dear Concerned Love;
I have certainly treated many people who had orgasmic, masturbatory or sexual headaches/Migraines. But never someone who had one two days after the act! Several choices here...don't masturbate and have more "regular" sex or masturbate and time a migraine-specific therapy (like ?? a triptan??) to try to prevent the onset of the headache. Both have advantages, but the latter is publishable, Keep me posted.
Good luck,
John Claude Krusz
