My mother has been suffering with migraines for years now, everyday day of her life she has multiple attacks where one can last for hours and sometimes they doesn't end for days or even weeks. She has been to numerous doctors and hospitals they have diagnosed her with photophobia. Sunglasses became a very important part of her life she must wear them everyday even in the house. Migraines took over her life, she is now disabled. She doesn't leave the house, she is constantly vomiting and always dizzy. There seems like no answer she has took every prescription drug in the world. Is there help out there and how can we find it? I miss my mom. Thank you, Jennie.
Answer:
Dear Jennie;
Photophobia is a very common symptom of Migraine. I'm sorry to hear that it's become so big a problem for your Mom.
Yes, Jennie, there is help. There are over 100 medications now that can be used to help, plus nearly endless combinations of them. I know it seems to you that she has taken "nearly every prescription drug in the world," but it's really impossible that she's tried them all. The best way for your Mom to get help is for her to get to a true Migraine specialist. These doctors are better at treating Migraine because all they treat is headaches and Migraine. That means they get a lot more experience and spend more time on continuing education and staying up-to-date in the field. There's a link below to our directory of recommended specialists. Have your Mom take a look and find a doctor close to her to visit.
Thanks for writing us for your Mom, Jennie.
Good luck,
Teri Robert and John Claude Krusz
