Question: How common is numbness in the extremities with Migraine?

Answer:

Full Question:

Thought I'd ask since you see and speak to so many people with migraines/headaches...Anyway, I have suffered for 28 years & have noticed that when I have really nasty migraine (#9 and up)....I have numbness in my extremities and lately it seems to last longer...I have talked w/ my Dr....but just wondered how common this is? Thank you. Lori.

Answer:

Dear Lori;

Certainly, accompanying symptoms can increase without an increase in the headaches per se. This is not uncommon. I'm not sure what that means, but Migraine and other symptom patterns can change over time. Unfortunately, numbness per se is not all that treatable as a symptom, except by treating with agents that can reduce the Migraines globally.

Good luck,
