Question: Research head pain and subarachnoid hemmorhage?
Answer:
Full Question:
I had migraines starting around age 11 that I
thought was as bad as head pain could ever get over the years until I had a
severe subarachnoid hemorrhage repaired by catheter obliteration. I have since
lost my business forced to stay home and can not seem to find any research
specific to this topic. Of course my disability ins. wants to say these
headaches are preexisting although I know the presentation is different (with of
course some commonalities in symptoms) but never has my life been shut down like
this and I would hugely appreciate any direction to research on this topic. They
of course also think its ridiculous that head pain can be disabling enough to
cause me to not work anymore! Thank you very much in advance for any info you
can share. Monna
Answer:
Dear Monna;
I guess I'm a little confused as to what question you are asking. It certainly is possible to have had headaches and then a brain event like a subarachnoid hemorrhage. The two events do have to be related. The might be or they may simply be two different events. The insurance company will likely try to say the headaches are pre-existing but this has nothing to do with the hemorrhage per se. Certainly, subarachnoid hemorrhage can be a cause of Migraines and headaches, but that is not your pattern, unless they worsened after the hemorrhage. I usually suggest folks look at www.pubmed.gov to access the National Library of Medicine which gives you access to published papers in peer-reviewed journals.
Good luck with your hunt for answers,
