  • 5) Just a wee note, I have had migraines? or headaches for years, I am 45. I tend to get a migraine which can be on either side of the head below the ear, or in the muscle in my shoulders, or on top on my head, the heat generated I'm sure you could fry an egg on!, and also behind the eye, they often move especially if I self medicate e.g. I use paracetamol rapid and soluble Voltaren D 50MG or Imigran injection. Medication will normally shift them but they often return even after a whole day without, the following morning after a great sleep. I have a good diet, no stress, and am healthy and never had a weight problem. I do though get headaches at period time and at ovulation and always have done. The headache starts and then not until I have an injection from my doctor, Pethadine or such like does the cycle get broken. Not every month is the same that I require an injection as I can sometimes contain the headache by way of Imigran. What if, is there anyway that I can prevent the cycle, we have talked amitriptyline, etc. I have taken over the years Migril, etc. but I am reluctant to take something full time as I am very healthy and feel that it is a hormonal problem. I have normal blood pressure, take no other medication and have never been on the pill or had any other problem. Hope you can put some light on this. So gratefully appreciated, Stella.

  • 6) I am a 48-year-old female with hormone headaches (intense pain on one side of head & over one eye, flushed face, nausea & sometimes vomiting). I use the Ortho-Evra patch to suppress periods and avoid headaches - works pretty well. My concern is migraine triggered by hot, sunny days. An overcast day does not bother me. And exertion in the heat will trigger a headache -example: mowing the lawn or gardening in the sun. This really limits my activities in the summer. I do drink a lot of water & iced tea - no sodas. I've come to love rainy days! Is there any way to avoid these headaches and be able to enjoy summer? I live in Virginia. I usually take ex. strength Excedrin or Imitrex, which may or may not provide relief. Thank you, Jan.

  • 7) I'm not opting for free medical advice, I'm just down right afraid to go to a doctor. I've had migraines for 21 years; I'm 31 years old and have suffered for 7 years every single day with a headache. I've tried all kinds of beta blockers and preventive medicine and nothing works. The only meds I have found that help, doctors are very reluctant to give because they're so addictive (Stadol and Pamelor). I recently have had a new experience I was wondering if you have ever heard of before. A few months ago, I started have a very intense pulsating sensation on the right side of my head, a few inches above my ear. Anyone can put their hand on the side of my head during these episodes and feel it almost jump out at them. It's sort of like when you have a nerve jumping in your arm or leg, a lot like that. It doesn't hurt; it just feels like an incredible amount of pressure. It usually lasts for about 20 minutes. I was afraid at first of something like an aneurysm, but I was told that aneurysms happen inside the skull in the brain, and this is definitely outside the skull. I have no medical insurance and cannot find a doctor that will see me because of that. If you have any advice on what you think this is, I would greatly appreciate this. Thank You, Tracy.

  • 8) I am a husband of a chronic headache wife - she suffers from migraines almost on a daily basis - we have done neurology - chiropractor - gone from one pain medication to another - with minimal results - hopefully this site will help us in our quest to better her quality of life - currently she takes Vicodin and Imitrex and other meds for her condition - but Vicodin and Imitrex are her main source of pain medication - her neurologist wants her to get off Vicodin ASAP - we have tried Botox once and had some success and are waiting to get her second set of shots soon - any information you can send us to help would be appreciated. Thanks, bob the enabler.
