  • 7) They came on so quickly her pediatrician thought she had a brain tumor. She suffered for 2 1/2 months before we finished testing and saw our first neurologist. During the MRI a venous angioma was found. She has since seen a neurosurgeon who agreed with me stating that the angioma makes the migraines worse. When she gets a headache she becomes numb on one side, dizzy and sick to her stomach. The pain becomes unbearable and the headaches last multiple days. I want to find someone who specializes in pediatric migraines and is also familiar with Venous Angiomas. Can you help me? We live in Auburndale Florida. That is half way between Tampa and Orlando. My mother lives about 1 hour outside of Birmingham Alabama, and Dakota's father lives about 1 hour away from Springfield Missouri. Thank you, Rhonda.

  • 8) I am a 53-year-old female, and have suffered with migraines since my early 20's. About 10 years ago, I started taking Imitrex, which was like a miracle for me. However, in the last year or so, I have been experiencing migraines so frequently that I now find myself taking Zomig almost every day. This is concerning me, as my quality of life is definitely being affected. My neurologist has tried a number of drugs to try to help me (Topamax, Inderal, birth control pills, Depakote, etc.) but none of them seem to have any affect, or perhaps even a negative affect. I take a lot of Excedrin (2-6 per day) and Zomig, and I am wondering if I am "hooked" or if my hormones fluctuations are causing this, or what. Birth control pills seemed to make things worse, and I am now afraid to try Estrogen, although my doctor is willing to prescribe it. His only suggestion at this point is Botox injections, which I really can't afford, but am considering. Also is acupuncture ever effective? As you can tell, I am getting desperate --- I haven't felt good in several months, and I just don't have time for all of the "down time." Can you offer me some suggestions? S. Butler.

  • 10) I have had migraines for years. Two years ago they started changing. I used to get them severe enough to have to lay down in dark room, no noise, nauseous and not move for 1-3 days. I take Imitrex for them. Two years ago, while at work, I experienced loss of site mostly in my right eye, everything was bright white. I testing done and everything came back negative. I have not lost my sight site but now they are getting to the point where I can be sitting and I am very dizzy, problems with blurriness in right eye mostly, right side of face feels numb sometimes, not always, feeling flushed with cheeks getting red and pressure on that side of my head. Should I be concerned as the neurologist just said my migraines are changing, nothing to be concerned about? If that is so, why are they changing? When do I have to be concerned?

  • 11) My daughter is about to turn 18 and suffers terribly from migraines. We have been through the course of treatments from Maxalt, Zomig, Imitrex, Imitrex injections etc. She is currently on Axert and birth control pills with hopes that having her period only 5 times a year will offer some relief. When she gets her period she is using estrogen (the patch, dot) twice a week with hopes that this will help. When she does get her period or is about to she gets debilitating headaches. The scary part is that she ALWAYS experiences them in the left temple by her eye. The pain causes the blood vessels to rupture in her eye. CT scans, MRI's have been done to rule out a tumor. Can you offer some advice or help? I was thinking of taking her to a chiropractor we are desperate for this is making life unbearable for her. Thanks for your help.

  • 12) My migraines seem to be worse around my menstrual cycle. I asked my family doctor if the headaches could be caused by something hormonal. I asked about estrogen and birth control pills. He shrugged off my questions and said that it could help it or hurt it and that he didn't advise I take that chance. Can migraines in women be triggered by a hormonal imbalance? If so, how is this diagnosed, what is the usual treatment?
