  • 1)  I have been experiencing ice pick headaches for about two months now. I am under a neurologists care and my primary care physician. I am currently taking Elavil 150 mg nightly. I have been taking Elavil at night for the past five years. They have just recently increased the dosage to 150, I was taking 100 a night. And they have put me on Inderal la 120 mg a day. And I am taking 50 mg of Demerol when the ice picks are extremely bad. They have prescribed a total of 20 50mg Demerol over the past two months and say they cannot prescribe anymore. I have had to quit my job. I have seen an acupuncturist twice and am working on biofeedback as a long term change. I STILL HAVE ICE PICKS! What are they and why can I not get rid of them? I am still getting migraines. I was taking Imitrex on a daily basis but have stopped. I haven't taken an Imitrex for 2 wks. The Dr. said they cause rebound headaches. I need some info and input Thank you, Jeannine.

  • 2) I had only had mild headaches until I turned 25 years old. Ever since I have been getting migraines more and more frequently. I was wondering after reading so much information on them, why if they are genetic did I not have them as a child? Why are they starting to happen now that I am an adult? I have tried, with no avail, to come up with some triggers for them, but I don't seem to have any. Foods or menstural are not triggers. Any advice as to why they would have started as an adult? Thank you, Kortney.

  • 3) I am a 33-year old female, and have suffered from migraines since I was about 14. I have been on Topamax (150mg/day) for about a year and a half in increasing dosages. By the time it got to 150mg/day the fatigue started to affect my life. I am now going to bed at about 9:30pm every night, and I start to get tired about 4:00pm. My neurologist says its just part of the medication. It works (for the most part) so I'm not willing to give it up and go back to the severe migraines that I was having almost once a week. I was just wondering if there was anything that could combat the fatigue. It has really affected my quality of life for the worse. Thank you, Amy.

  • 4) I'm a 33 year old female and I have had migraines since I was in junior high school. However, because I know what migraine pain is like I know this isn't the same. I work out 3-4 times a week and I am constantly getting severe pounding headaches about 1/2 hour after a work out. These headaches are so painful and nothing takes it away. Actually the only thing I can count on is an ounce of Nyquil with a Maxalt which I take for migraines. However, its tough to rely on Nyquil when its broad daylight. I recently started taking 3 Aleve immediately after my work out but that cant be healthy all the time. These headaches feel like my entire head is going to split in two. The last one I had lasted all afternoon and evening. I was completely bedridden. It hurt to blink or lift my head. Like I said I had to take a shot of Nyquil and one of my migraine pills to relieve it. Do you have any idea why this is happening. I thought it might have something to do with my breathing during exercise, but I'm no doctor. I also have problems with my feet cramping during exercise. I don't know if the two have a link but I thought I'd mention it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I understand you cannot give me a diagnosis and that I should see my doctor. I was hoping you could offer an opinion. I already see my physician for migraines and back pain. The poor guy is gonna think I'm nuts pretty soon if I tell him about this. Thanks, Kathy.

  • 5) Recent studies indicate a need to resolve the prevention of comorbid depression and migraine. What is being done and is there anything worthwhile available for prevention of comorbid migraines associated with depression? Thanks, Steve.
