Actiq
Actiq is a "lozenge" made of fentanyl and attached to a stick much like a candy lollypop. It is vital that this medication be kept away from children who might mistake it for candy. It can be fatal to children. Fentanyl is a narcotic analgesic used to relieve pain. It does not have the properties to abort a Migraine attack. Fentanyl acts in the central nervous system (CNS) to relieve pain. Some of its side effects are also caused by actions in the CNS. Although Actiq is not considered a first-line medication for headaches or Migraines, it is occastionally prescribed in cases of severe chronic pain.
