Forums
Welcome! These forums are here for the sharing of information and support. Whether you suffer from headaches and/or Migraines yourself or not, you're welcome to join us to learn, share information, and give and receive support. Any information shared on these forums should not be construed as medical advice. Always talk with your doctor before trying anything new or changing your treatment regimen.
Just a few simple rules:
- No spamming or commercial posts. Please do not post to sell a product or service or involve anyone in a money-making proposition. Spam/commercial posts, flaming, or other inappropriate posts will be deleted. Usuing the forum to email members for the purposed of promoting a product or service is also prohibited. Violating these rules will result in immediate loss of forum privileges.
- No flaming. That means no rudeness or nastiness.
- Do not put your email address in your posts. That leaves you wide open to spammers and spam bots. Hosts will delete email addresses in posts.
- Do not offer medical advice. Sharing information for others to consider with their doctors is appropriate; giving medical advice is not.
- Please do not post surveys or questionnaires without prior permission from our Guide. Unfortunately, there have been spammers who post surveys to gather info for sales purposes.
- Please do not post copyright protected information from publicatons, Web sites, or other sources. You may post two or three sentences of an online article along with a link for those who wish to read the content.
MAGNUM, the National Migraine Association and About have teamed up, linking our sites to bring vital information and support to as many people as possible. Visit their site at www.migraines.org at your earliest convenience!
FAQ
- Q. Do I have to register to use the forums?A. You can enter as a guest and read posts, but you must register before you can post or answer a post that's already there. Registering is quick, simple, and free. Please join us.
- Q. What can I expect to find on these forums?A. You can expect to find lots of opportunities to learn through sharing of information and a wonderful support system. Once you've visited our forums, you'll realize that you're not alone with your pain, and there is hope.
- Q. Do medical professionals answer questions here?A. No. There are medical professionals who post to our forums, but they do not give medical advice. They post and share just as our other forum members. Online information cannot take the place of your doctor's care.
- Q. Do all posts here have to be on-topic?A. Not at all! We encourage off-topic postings such as personal messages, jokes, etc., in our Support Forum. Our only request is that material be "family-rated" as we sometimes have young readers.
- Q. Are there any types of posts that are prohibited here?A. Yes. We will delete any spam or commercial posts and any posts that offer medical advice. Repeated posting of such will result in posting privileges being revoked. Our members are either in pain or supporting people who are. We have promised them a safe, friendly, commercial-free environment and expect everyone to respect that.
- Q. May I promote my product or Web site here?A. You may post a link in your signature to your PERSONAL web site as long as you are not selling medicinal products or services. (Please see previous question.)
- Q. Why has my email address been deleted from my posts?A. Our hosts will delete any email addresses they notice in forum posts for your privacy and protection. There is software that "harvests" email addresses to add them to mailing lists for spammers. Thus, posting your email address sets you up for a mailbox full of spam. You can email other forum members via their profile by clicking on their name above their post.
- Q. How can I report a violation of forum rules?A. If you move your cursor to the lower left corner of any forum post, a menu will be shown. Please select "Report Violation," and fill in the information requested.
- Q. Why was my post edited or deleted without my being notified.A. Please understand that there are thousands of forum members, but only a few hosts. Time simply does not permit us to email everyone when a post needs to be edited or deleted. If your post was edited or deleted, it was because it violated one of the policies listed above.
