"Happy New Year to Teri and all of you out there who have made me feel so much better. I never had anyone to talk to that suffered the same as me and since I hear about everyone else's progress ( or lack thereof) I feel so much better. I may still be in pain but I don't feel so alone with all of you out there. Thanks a million."

About Headaches has been online for just six months now, and our forum opened in early October. From the beginning, I was sure that my fellow headachers (OK, so I invented a word — I'm tired of the word "sufferers") would get involved, and get involved they have!

For anyone who missed it, I dubbed the members of this hardy community the AHHHs — About's Headache Help Hunters. From my email to submissions for our You're Not Alone! area to our forum and chat room, these are the folks who are always there. They're full of questions, answers, the occasional rant and rave, humor, and always — always — very generous support for each other. For those of you who have already visited the forum and our Thursday evening chat, I'm not telling you anything new. Here are some highlights:

From You're Not Alone!
18yearsgal took time to send a readers submission urgently warning others not to ignore headaches:

"I seriously advise people who never had migraines before but only started to suffer from throbbing headaches to visit a specialist instead of dismissing the problem. I'm saying this because I suffer from horrible migraines not long ago after I recovered from a fever. Family doctors couldn't see the problem & simply gave me Panadol.... it became worse & started to keep me awake in the night. I couldn't stand it anymore and went to the hospital for a scan and the neurologist found a growth of pus to the size of a golf ball on my brain that is pressing on the nerves causing the horrible pains. I underwent four operations to remove the abscess and is now recovering well. It was a horrible experience so I hope others that are having throbbing headaches to take care of themselves."

From the About Headaches Forum
MALICHIA1 found a place to vent where others would understand.

"I've looked for a discussion board like this and stumbled on it by accident (fate?). My problem right now lies in my dr's opinions. He examined me on Monday, and asked how long I'd had my migraine. I told him since Saturday morning. He then informed me that migraines don't last 3 days!? That's news to me. Then he pressed hard on the side of my head that was hurting on pressure points (or that's what he said anyway) Then told me because that hurt me, it was a migraine that had developed into something to do with the outer tissue of the skull, that I wasn't having a migraine anymore. Funny, it was still hurting on the inside like my migraines always do. How do I go about education this guy? I'm from a small town, these are my only Dr.s unless I want to travel. Thanks for letting me rant :)"
