Where: Vanderbilt Hall, Grand Central Terminal, New York City
WHAT:
The week of June 2nd is the NHF's (National Headache Foundation) National Headache Awareness Week. To raise awareness of
Migraine, a debilitating disease that affects more than 28 million Americans and
is more common that diabetes and asthma, Grand Central Terminal will be
transformed into a tranquil, serene environment where busy commuters can relax,
refresh, revive and most importantly participate in interactive activities to
educate them about Migraine.
Migraine sufferers often lose the ability to enjoy the simple things in life -
everyday sounds, sights, smells and touch can often be intolerable. The Relpax
Serenity Spa will feature five sensory serenity stations that will bring to life
the benefits of finding Migraine relief. Consumers who attend the event will be
able to indulge their senses by enjoying a 10-minute de-stressing massage,
relaxing in a tranquil serenity garden, listening to local musicians playing
beautiful music throughout the day or sampling some of the wonderful foods being
cooked up by a chef.
Why:
The impact of Migraine, which includes intense throbbing head pain, often
accompanied by nausea, vomiting and sensitivity to light and sound, can take a
severe toll on sufferers' lives. Yet, more than 50% of sufferers are undiagnosed
and struggle through pain that can last between 4-72 hours. The Relpax®
Serenity Spa is an educational effort being conducted by Pfizer to help raise
awareness among sufferers that they should talk to their doctors about
Migraine-specific medications that can relieve the pain and symptoms of
Migraine. Relpax® is a new Migraine-specific treatment (triptan)
introduced by Pfizer.
