analgesic often used in place of
aspirin. Works as a pain killer and fever reducer, but does not have the
anti-inflammatory action of aspirin. More easily tolerated than aspirin
for many as it does not irritate the stomach as much. Acetaminophen is available
by itself over-the-counter as well as in compound prescription medications
such as Tylenol #3, Percocet, Darvocet, etc. Taking Acetaminophen or other
medications containing acetaminophen more than two or three days a week can
cause rebound headache.
