| QUESTION: I wake up with Migraines at least three times a week during the Spring-Fall months. My doctor has put me on Elavil which helps but after awhile, they seem to start again, and they only option he gives me is to increase the Elavil. I presently take 75 mg. I take Zomig when they begin no more than three times a week, so I don't think I'm rebounding. What is your opinion? Lynn REPLY: Your Migraine upsurge could be seasonal. Many Migraineurs fail Elavil and higher doses may be associated with side effects. It is good to limit the triptan medication as you have been doing. Perhaps a change of prophylaxis medication might be in order, or a referral to a headache specialist. Good luck. John Claude Krusz Lynn, |
