QUESTION:
Can you tell me why, I get a headache around my eyes when it is rainy or windy, mostly rain, also when my sinuses are bothering me its usually only one on the left side of my head, and I usually get congested on that one side. Thank you.



REPLY:
Although you need to see a doctor to be diagnosed by a careful review of your medical history and your symptoms, this could well be weather-triggered Migraine episodes. Changes in barometric changes and weather patterns present one of the most common Migraine triggers. Because of the location of some of the nerves and blood vessels involved in Migraine, sinus-like symptoms are common. In fact, studies have shown that most self-diagnosed sinus headaches are, in fact, Migraine episodes. For more information, see:

In a study, a startling 97% of the participants, self-described sinus headache sufferers, actually had symptoms consistent with migraine attacks as defined by the criteria of the International Headache Society.
