Definition: A neuropeptide produced by the human thyroid gland that is important for maintaining a dense, strong bone matrix and regulating the blood calcium level.
Examples: Researchers believe the neuropeptide calcitonin gene-related peptide is released from the trigeminal nerves and is involved in the pathophysiology of Migraine.
