The Gelly Belly Grizzly Bear
Gelly Belly Bears have special gel packs that can be heated in the microwave or chilled in the freezer, then fit into the bear through a nearly invisible opening in the back that's kept closed with Velcro.

The Thyroid Hormone Breakthrough
Migraine disease is difficult enough to cope with by itself, but many migraineurs find themselves in the position of having comorbid conditions that complicate matters further. Thyroid disease is one of those common comorbidities, and by educating ourselves, we can live better. "The Thyroid Hormone Breakthrough" can help us with that education.

TabTote Classic Monthly Pill Organizer
Whether we're talking about headaches and Migraines or other conditions, if you ask why people don't take their medications correctly, many of the reasons boil down to issues of convenience and organization. Here's an organizer and dispenser that lets you handle all those different bottles just once a month. Talk about easy!

Beyond Casseroles
If my cat and grandchildren hadn't already convinced me that good things come in small packages, this book would have. At 4.25 x 7 inches, this is what I'd call a "pocket" book. It's small enough to put in your pocket or purse, but it's brimming with top-notch ways to encourage people whether they have chronic headaches, Migraine disease, or another chronic illness.

Pain - the Fifth Vital Sign
Throughout the history of medicine, quantifying pain has been an issue. How do we explain "how much" pain we're experiencing in a way that's universally understood? As headache and Migraine patients we can absolutely relate. Jackson explores pain as the "Fifth Vital Sign," as measurable as temperature, blood pressure, heart beat, and respiration.

"Heal Your Headache" The 1-2-3 Program for Taking Charge of Your Pain
Book Review: "Heal Your Headache: The 1·2·3 Program for Taking Charge of Your Pain by David Buchholz. Dr. Buchholz does make one stop and think, partly because he challenges so much of what is now considered to be basic headache and Migraine knowledge backed by significant bodies of verified and published research. In the introduction to the book, he explains, "my beliefs are hypotheses..." I'm glad he included that statement in this book that has raised more than a few eyebrows.

10 Simple Solutions to Migraines
If good things come in small packages, "10 Simple Solutions to Migraines" partially fits the bill. The book is 5" by 7½" and contains 143 pages. It's purpose is to offer some good strageties for dealing with Migraines, offered in a straight forward, no nonsense style. It's a good attempt, but falls a bit short.

Headache Through the Ages from About Headaches and Migraine
There are many books available that talk about the medical aspects of headaches and Migraine disease. Diamond and Franklin have taken a different and quite interesting approach. In "Headache Through the Ages," they explore how "headache" has been perceived through time in literature, art history, and anecdotal material, "noting the famous headache suffers and how they depicted their pain."

You Can Heal Your Life
In "You Can Heal Your Life," Louise Hay would have us believe that the cause of all illness and injury is psychological and spiritual. She has a list of conditions and, without mentioning consulting a physician, encourages readers to heal themselves. Most books have some redeeming content, but I cannot find it here.

Management of Headache and Headache Medications
Management of Headache and Headache Medications by Dr. Lawrence Robbins is a must-have for healthcare professionals as well as a superb addition to the library of information seeking patients and patient advocates who need information about Migraine disease and headache disorders.

A Guided Tour of Hell
This is a book Migraineurs have been waiting for. This is a book we want our families, doctors, friends -- everyone with whom we come in contact -- to read. If you have Migraines or bad headaches or know someone who does, you need this book.

The Headache Prevention Cookbook
Unfortunately, foods are a major headache trigger for many people. Fortunately, Dr. David Marks has written this book with a superb program for identifying those triggers and preventing headaches. His wife, Dr. Laura Marks has developed some wonderful recipes to accompany the program.

Headache Help
Dr. Robbins and Ms. Lang bring an insider's perspective to "Headache Help." Dr. Robbins himself endures migraines and daily headaches. Ms. Lang, a medical writer, grew up observing her father's debilitating Migraines. In their writing, they both seek to inform, encourage, and assist those who must deal with headaches of all kinds.

Headache in Primary Care
An excellent resource for both physicians and patients, "Headache in Primary Care" discusses headache disorders, Migraine disease, and appropriate treatment. This book is written for primary care physicians, but is valuable to patients as well.

"Handbook of Headache Management"
From some of the foremost experts in their field comes this superbly comprehensive book that would be a superlative addition to anyone's library. Although intended for health care professionals, Headache Management... is invaluable for anyone who wants to learn more about the management of various headache disorders.

Review: Migraine and Other Headaches. (Young and Silberstein)
We often discuss the need for and benefits of headache and Migraine sufferers educating ourselves and becoming active participants in our health care. This book both reflects that philosophy and provices us with a great educational resource. Definitely a must-have book. ]"Migraine and Other Headaches" was written by Dr. William B. Young and Dr. Stephen D. Silberstein, both noted experts in the treatment of headache disorders and Migraine.

Review: The Women's Migraine Survival Guide
Dr. Peterson has done an admirable job of presenting a great deal of information in a manner that is concise and easy to follow. In addition, she has packed this book with wonderful tools and quizzes to help readers determine what may apply to them.

Review: Cluster Headaches
Goldstein has done an admirable job of compiling excerpts from the experiences of 217 "ClusterHeads." As someone who suffers from cluster headaches himself, he knows what fellow sufferers and those trying to understand them need to know. Goldstein has chosen well, and arranged the excerpts into a superb range of topics.

Review: Clinical Pharmacology Made Incredibly Easy
Clinical Pharmacology made Incredibly Easy! has come to my rescue. It is written clearly, concisely, and in terms that are understandable. While the tone is kept light, it is packed with information that makes it a superlative reference book.

Effortless Relaxation (CD)
A superlative relaxation CD. The highest quality music combined with subliminal affirmations combine to facilitate relaxation and improve health.

Living Well with Graves' Disease and Hyperthyroidism
Living Well with Graves' Disease and Hyperthyroidism, What Your Doctor Doesn't Tell You... That You Need To Know by patient advocate Mary Shomon is a must-read if you have either condition or their symptoms or if you care about someone who does. Many Migraineurs also experience these conditions. Thus, our readers may well find this book invaluable.

Review: Living Well with Autoimmune Disease
Times have changed. No longer do all patients meekly accept what one doctor tells them, especially when the diagnosis and its consequences are serious. More and more, patients are educating themselves and becoming active participants in their own health care. With books such as "Living Well with Autoimmune Disease" and committed authors like Mary J. Shomon, this patient strategy is becoming easier.

Review: The MemoryMinder Personal Health Journal
I quite often emphasize the importance of maintaining a headache and Migraine diary. However, there are times when we'd like to keep more information than can be conveniently recorded on the type of diary page that is simple for our doctors to review and analyze. I was using a blank journal for that purpose until I came across the "MemoryMinder Personal Health Journal" by MemoryMinder Journals, Inc.

Review: Handbook of Headache, Second Edition, Evans and Mathew
This book was supposedly written for doctors, and if fills that bill admirably. However, having met Dr. Evans and knowing his dedication to patient education, I read the book and found what I expected. He and Dr. Mathew have written a book that's also quite appropriate for patients on a quest for education. A good medical dictionary will be helpful, but don't let that stop you.
