Steno pad and pen

Virtually everyone forgets something they intended to tell or ask their doctor. Going to the doctor can be stressful, and we're often not feeling well. To help avoid this problem, keep a list of what you want to tell your doctor and what questions you want to ask.

Keep a notebook handy so you can write down what you want to tell your doctor and questions you want to ask as you think of them. Just before your appointment, type them up, leaving space after each comment and question so you can take notes at your appointment. When you go for your appointment, print two or three copies. You'll want a copy for yourself, one for your doctor, and an additional one if you're going to take someone to your appointment with you.

Do not hesitate to list any and all questions you want to ask. If you've read something you want to discuss with your doctor, take a copy for your doctor if possible.

* Note: If you child is having head pain, depending on age, you may need to do this for the child or at least supervise your child doing it.
