Question: ...have not come across anything that says that Bextra treats migraines,...

Answer:

Dear Jen,
Actually, other than Depakote, there are no medications that are FDA approved for Migraine prevention. Everything else is prescribed off-label, often because someone taking them for their original purpose notices that their Migraines become better while taking them. Such is the case with Bextra as well as Vioxx and Celebrex, two other medications in the same family.

Dear Jen:
I have shown posters (a form of research report) at recent headache meetings on Bextra successfully treating moderate migraines and tension-type headaches. When it works, it can be extremely helpful and can avoid some of the side effects of older NSAIDS. Your dose is sort of introductory and the company's package insert goes to 40mg per day for dosing.
Good luck,
John Claude Krusz
