Question: Severe headaches...Are they migraine, cluster, sinus? Combination of all three?
Answer:
Dear Beth,
Having been without insurance, I can understand your position, but even with the description you provide, it's impossible to diagnose you via the Internet. A proper diagnosis requires reviewing your full medical history and symptoms and performing an examination. You really do need to see a doctor for diagnosis. Tests such as x-rays, CT scan, and MRI are often not required before making a preliminary diagnosis and beginning treatment. Since you've tried Zomig and Relpax for these episodes, does that mean you've already been diagnosed with Migraine disease? If so, make an appointment with your doctor, review your symptoms, and let him or her know that Zomig and Relpax didn't work for you. There are five other medications in the triptan family that you can try, or your doctor may have other suggestions. Since you mention sinus symptoms, this article may be of help to you:
Sinus
Headache May Be Migraine
In a study, a startling 97% of the participants, self-described sinus headache
sufferers, actually had symptoms consistent with migraine attacks as defined
by the criteria of the International Headache Society.
Good luck,
Teri Robert
