Ask the Clinician

Question: Ophthalmic Migraine without pain...same cause as Migraine with pain?

Answer:

Dear Pat,
This is a difficult question to answer. In the International Headache Society classification system, which is universally accepted and used for diagnosis and classification, there is no such diagnosis as Ophthalmic Migraines. Your use of the term cluster headache is also confusing because cluster headaches are another condition entirely. I'd suggest talking with your doctor or perhaps a Migraine specialist about your question.

Good luck,
Teri Robert
