Question: Is it safe to take 30 Maxalt a month?
Answer:
You really need to see your doctor or perhaps a Migraine specialist for
additional help with your preventive regimen. With preventives, you shouldn't
NEED Maxalt daily. Additionally, there is a school of thought that some of the
triptans, including Maxalt, may cause rebound headaches. If that's happening in
your case, you're not going to get rid of the daily headaches and achieve
success with your preventives until you stop taking the Maxalt. To avoid
rebound, it shouldn't be used more than two or three days a week.
I strongly suggest making an appointment with a Migraine specialist and asking
him or her to consult with the physician who is treating your heart rate and
arrhythmia. It's possible that they can agree on a medication that would treat
your heart condition AND help you with Migraine prevention.
Good luck,
Teri Robert

Dear Sufferer:
I agree completely with Dr Robert's comments about your headache pattern. With
using Maxalt daily, it certainly gets costly! The bigger issue is: how to slow
down your headache/migraine pattern? My strongest suggestion is consulting a
headache specialist in your area, especially to coordinate with your other
doctor(s) on the heart rate.
Good luck to you,
