Question: Diagnosed with migraines, but the pain is never throbbing. Is this migraines?
Answer:
Dear Headache (non-throbbing) Sufferer:
Almost 45% of migraines aren't throbbing in nature, in one study, so, squeezing, sharp lightning-like pains and jabs are fair game for inclusion. If have been given a migraine-specific treatment (ie, a triptan), it would be interesting to see if your pain diminished or went away, as you describe multiple recurrences in the same day. Of course, we don't use triptans to diagnose migraines, but they can help headaches that don't seem like your textbook migraine.
Good luck,
