Question: mother has headaches 2-3 times a month...head starts spinning...pizotifen...
Answer:
Dear Hyacinth:
You are certainly a very concerned daughter. I'm sure you either live in Canada
or Great Britain (or the UK), from the medications you mention. It may be that
your mum needs another way of suppressing her migraines. Fortunately, there are
a lot of new medications to do this with. For example, migraines that occur at
or about a woman's period can often be treated by a long-acting triptan (called
frovatriptan). Unfortunately, your description of your mum's headache's do not
allow for a confident call on whether or nor they are migraines. And, in any
case, we strive not to diagnose over the Internet, as that is not the purpose of
this website. Good luck; seek out a headache specialist for your mum.
