Question: Beta Blocker...help prevent migraine, help save money spent on Zomig?

Answer:

Dear Staci:
Your story is quite common. Inderal and amitriptyline may take several weeks to "work" to reduce the number and severity of your migraines. If you are having to repeat doses of Zomig, that may drive costs up. Be aware that there are longer acting medications in the same family (i.e., Amerge, Axert, Frova, Relpax) These could be effective over a longer period of time, reducing the need to treat recurrent headaches. Good luck; it sounds like you may be on the path to reducing your headache burden.
