  • 6) How can one break the pattern of the rebound migraines, other than by stopping the medication cold turkey and putting up with a 3-day unbearable migraine? I have been getting a migraine every day lately for the last 25 days. I take a Maxalt as soon as the migraine starts and most of the time it goes away. But I know through past experience (12 years) that it its a rebound effect of taking too much medication. My family doctor is very young and doesn't seem to know anything about migraines. Can you give me some advice please? Thank you, Janet.

  • 7) I have been suffering from migraines for over 20 years and have tried several different medications. When I was first diagnosed, my doctor prescribed Fiorinal. It worked quite well with little or no side effects. When I was forced to change doctors, my new doctor prescribed Imitrex which is sometimes effective but not always. I now have a different doctor and he's prescribed Cafergot which sometimes works but not always. I also find I have a hard time sleeping with this medication. I would like to try the Fiorinal again and just wondered what kind of information you have on this. I also suffer from essential tremors and have read about Inderal as a medication to treat these tremors. One such article, said that Fiorinal and Inderal should not be taken together. Would you kindly comment on that as well. Thanks, D F

  • 8) My question is quite straight forward, What are the long term effects (if any) using Topamax? I have been using it for about 2 years now for the treatment of my migraines with wonderful results. But was wondering, how long I can continue to take it, what the long term effects are on my body? Any Ideas? Thanks Penski.

  • 9) 3 or 4 times a year I have a series, of what seems to be, an electrical jolt or shock to one side of my head. The jolt only lasts for approx. 2 seconds and, when it begins, comes every 2 minutes. This happens for a full day and maybe into the next day. As the day goes on it sometimes lessens in frequency. The intensity of the jolts are strong but sometimes lessens in strength as the day wears on. Over the counter meds do not help too much - only decreases the intensity a little. When this jolting happens, it is generally on the left side of my head, however this last time it was on my right side. Any ideas? Doug.

  • 10) I have been diagnosed with Ophthalmic migraines which affect my vision. There is no pain, but blurring of part of my vision, lasting about 30 minutes, followed by a cluster headache around my eye socket. Often the atypical vision is preceded by an ache around my eye. Does this type of non-pain migraine have the same causes as migraines with pain? Pat.
