  • 1)  I have suffered from migraines for 5 years. In the last year, they have been almost daily. I have been on many preventive medications as well as OTC. I have never been given a painkiller. The Maxalt 10 mg has worked for me as long as a I take it as I feel a migraine coming on. My concern is, I have to take a Maxalt once a day. On occasions, I take 2. I am on Tenormin for a fast heart rate and arrhythmias. I have noticed an increase of the arrhythmias lately and are wondering if the triptan is causing this reaction since I take at least 30 pills a month. Is it safe to take 30 Maxalt a month?

  • 2) I am a 56-year-old female and have had migraines since I was about 35. They are preceded by a muscle knot in my neck, mostly near the base of my ear (left or right leading to a headache on the same side). Sometimes applying pressure for 40 to 60 seconds will relieve the muscle knot and prevent the migraine. Usually has to be repeated several times a day. What causes the muscle knots? If I can find the source, could I prevent or end my migrines?

  • 3) I was wondering how far medicine had gotten in positively identifying migraines. Is there, for example, a clear and precise blood or urine test that can positively reveal that you suffer from the disease? Thank you for your answer.

  • 4) On March 19 I woke up with a severe headache and vomiting. My husband took me to the ER and they did a CT scan a spinal tap and a MRA. The MRA showed that there may be an obstruction on the right side but it was below the level of the test. I was released with a diagnosis of migraine and told to go to my Dr for follow-up, further test ultra-sound or further MRA. The Dr. gave me Imitrex samples and said no further studies were necessary. I think that the headaches may be triggered by my menstrual cycle, should I follow up with my gynecologist, could the possible obstruction be causing the migraines. It is two days later and I still have a headache. Thanks Martha.

  • 5) I have a five-year-old son, who throws up once a month for 12 hours sometimes 24. He has done it since birth, and as he has gotten older he now tells me he is dizzy and with in 10 minutes starts to vomit. He has been to many doctors and has had an MRI. They can find nothing. This happens once a month like clock work. What questions should I ask him to find out if it is Migraines? thank you, Concerned mother, Donna.
