  • 1) My boyfriend suffers from migraines. He has them fairly frequently and they sometimes last for several days. He takes vasograin but recently have been experiencing short bursts of vision black outs when he has these attacks. Is this common with migraine sufferers? I am worried that it is a symptom of something more than just a migraine. Jiun.

  • 2) I am 35 years old and have had migraines since I was in about 3rd grade. I have a question regarding the use of almotriptan (Axert). I have chronic Migraines and am taking Axert when Migraine head pain begins. This is one of the few medications that have worked without having made the accompanying symptoms worse. I usually can tell when the pain phase will begin because of various aura signals that have included things such as; odd smells, limb weakness, blind spots, blurry vision and scintillating triangles. I am on prophylactic therapy that consist of Lexapro, and Xanax. Given the number of medications that should not be taken with Axert in a given period of time, some of which are antibiotics, are any critical enough to warrant the need for carrying medical identification? Michael.

  • 3) I get about 2-3 migraines per month. I have tried Imitrex, Maxalt, and other tripitans but can't handle the way they make me feel. My blood pressure is low (90/50 to 100/60) and I've been finding relief using hydrocodone. I usually only have to take one tablet when the visual distortion starts and within an hour, I am in pretty good shape. Tired, but no pain. My problem is my doctor keeps wanting me to "try" other things. I don't like being a guinea pig with these migraines. When my "trial" doesn't work, I am in agony. What do you suggest I do? Sincerely, Denise.

  • 5) My husband has had a complicated migraine for about 18 months now. He is severely depressed. We aren't sure which came first. He sees a whole variety of professionals who try various things. One doctor even told him he has two choices: learn to live with it or POW!!! My question is: how do I cope with this? Could you recommend a book for me to read? His counselor spends time with me, too, but sometimes that's not enough.
