1) Is there any surgical procedure to remedy migraines similar to the procedure used for heart patients, whereby a stint is used to hold arteries open. Since migraines are caused by the constriction or blockage of blood supply, would the installation of a stint be a viable alternative? Thanks.

2) I have been getting cluster headaches for the last 3 years, only during the months of January, February, and March. They seem to go away after that. I have had a CT scan and MRI with no sign of a tumour or anything else. I have tried Apo Propranolol 20mg, Ratio-Atenolol 50mg, Oxycocet, Apo Amitriptyline 10mg. I was just put on Diovan 80mg and Toradol 10mg and all that has happened was that I increased the Toradol 6-7 times a day to keep the headaches away. The only prescription that has helped a lot in the last 3 years is Fiorinal C half gr. My doctor told me to get off the Toradol and take the Fiorinal. I take Fiorinal at least 5-6 times a day no matter what time it is. I could take a pill at 11pm to go to bed and I will wake up at 2-3 o'clock with such a headache that by the time I take another Fiorinal it would take another hour to relieve the pain. I took another pill at 5am and another one at 9am. This happens everyday for a least 2-3months. There must be something I could take of try to give me longer relief. I am looking for a Migraine Clinic in Detroit that can maybe help. Have you any suggestions on what I can do. Thank you David.

3) I am at my wit's end! I've suffered from migraine since the age of 7. There is a definite genetic link. I'm now 55 & have tried almost every possible form of treatment recommended by neurologists (medication, biofeedback, clinical hypnosis, chiropractic, etc.). In 1997 I had a cervical fusion as that was the assumed source of my pain. In 95% of my attacks, I awaken with neck/shoulder pain and full blown migraines. I take Vioxx, Flexeril & Sinequan nightly, to no avail. I also take Imitrex for pain relief. I've reached the point where I hesitate to go to bed because I'll probably be back to square one in the morning. I've also invested my life savings on specialty pillows! I had both brain & spinal MRI's in Jan. '04 which were unremarkable except for several foci characteristic of chronic migraine. Any suggestions greatly appreciated as I feel like I'm losing the battle and don't no where to turn at this point. None of the Dr.'s seem to understand the correlation between my neck pain & migraines. Can you recommend a headache clinic that might be able to help me? Many thanks for your reply!

4) My "headaches" started at age 11. Until the age of about 29, I could control the migraines by avoiding dairy & chocolate -- no other foods or conditions (with the exception of flying -- which wasn't very often) bothered me. After the birth of my second daughter, I started getting them menstrually. Now, 11 years later, I can't eat peanut butter, lunchmeats, foods with yeast, and even though I try to avoid the foods, a host of other triggers seem to start the cycle. (Sometimes a migraine will start a day or two before my period and not "break" until about 15 days later.) I even seem to get the migraines when the weather changes, when losing sleep, and when more than I can handle is going on. A "good" month for me is 10 migraines, a bad one, 25. I have tried all the prophylactics (anti-depressants, Botox, and anti-seizure meds -- which I couldn't continue to take because of the weird & dangerous side effects). I am currently taking Verapamil (as a preventative), feverfew and calcium/magnesium. When a really bad migraine hits, my Zomig, caffeine - mixtures, etc, don't even touch the pain. What can be done in a situation like this. I see a neurologist regularly and have a recent CT scan. Many thanks!
