  • 1) Exertional Headaches/Migraines:
I'm a 59-year-old male that had surgery for a plugged artery in the right side of my neck after having a light stroke. The stroke made left side of face numb and left arm and left leg. A month later they felt it was safe to do the surgery. What i get is a pain that starts in the lower part of the neck that was cut open and then the pain goes up right side of my head above my ear and drives me insane it hurts so bad. They doppler checked the artery and said it looks good. they had to slit it open (artery) down its side to clean out and fix and sew back together.. could this be migraines? No Doctor so far seems to be able to find the cause. Stan

  • 3) Hysterectomy for Migraines?
I know my headaches are due to my periods and when I ovulate. My GYN doesn't think that this is reason enough to at least give me a partial hysterectomy. I am 39 yrs old and am going through peri-menapause and I had a tubal done years ago. I cannot afford my migraine medicine all the time and there are times when it doesn't work because my body gets immune. Do you think a second opinion is needed? Or do you have any suggestions? Thanks, Anne.

  • 4) Combination OTC and Rx Rebound:
I am 30 years old and have been having headaches for around 8 years now. Lately they have been getting worse, and I have started to have them daily. I went and saw my doctor who believed that the Excedrin migraine I was taking may be causing the problems of the chronic headaches. At one time I took 4 pills every other day for some time. He gave me a 5 day steroid treatment, and told me to not take anymore Excedrin or caffeine. The 5 day treatment seemed to have made it worst, and I begin to have sharp shooting pains, almost continuously. He then put me on Midrin, 20mg amitriptyline and a nausea medication. It has now been two weeks since the last Excedrin, and I am miserable. The Midrin was not helping so he took me off of that and told me I was still detoxing off the Excedrin. Is this a normal reaction? How long is it going to take my headache to subside? I can barely concentrate at work and I go home and lay down, which I never do. I don't know if he just doesn't know or if this is really the case . . . any suggestions? Frustrated, SLC UTAH

  • 5) Sinus or Migraine?
I have had daily headaches for over 20 years. I'm not sure if I'm confusing a sinus headache with a migraine headache. How do you tell the difference? I am 49 and currently take Bufferin and Sudafed. They ease the headaches, but they never really go away completely. My pain in right across my forehead. When the headache is bad, light and loud noises bother me. My doctor keeps insisting I have allergies and has been giving me sample of everything under the sun of which nothing works. If I get a "sinus infection", I am laid up for at least a week. He once prescribed me an antibiotic which worked in 3 days to get rid of it, but he won't give it to me anymore. Help?
