The OTHER Hormone Replacement Therapy
Thursday November 20, 2008
Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) gets a lot of attention these days, especially considering how controversial estrogen and progesterone replacement has gotten. I had a patient in my office this evening, however, that made me think of the other HRT: testosterone replacement. Mr. X came in for acupuncture treatment on his back and legs, but told me he recently started using Androgel for low testosterone levels. He was complaining that each morning he wakes up with a headache that usually responds to his normal migraine medications, but he noticed the headaches are more frequent now that he is on the Androgel. I did a little hunting and lo and behold, headache is one of the common side effects. Migraines and headaches in general may affect women more often, but let's not forget the men out there with conditions and treatments that make them a set-up to get one.

Comments
If anyone comes up with a remedy for male menopause YELL! I have had virtually no sex drive fore several years and tried HRT. Other than making be extremely irritable for 2-3 days after my shot, it didn’t do much good.
My husband has been using the testosterone shot for years, as he has Kallaman’s Syndrome. His body depends on the shot for the testosterone. He has found it the safest as it absorbs gradually and safely. I think there is the least side effects of headaches for him.
our son developed chronic migraine when he hit 16 years of age. He still suffers daily. Could hormones be part of the migraine cause?
